Morrissey/ Smiths night...

Whenever conversation turns to famous folk from Levenshulme after the fact that Arthur Lowe (of Dad's Army fame) attended Chapel Street Primary School things get a bit sketchy...

A few times I've seen posted that two members of the Smiths live/ lived in Levenshulme.
As I've not seen Steven Patrick Morrissey in Netto I guess this must mean one of the other three?

Anyway, after that rambling introduction, this Friday sees Irish Blood, English Heart a tribute to The Smiths club night:

The Pack Horse, Stockport Road, Levenshulme
0161 224 4355

8pm – Free

Indie Irish DJ James H dusts off his collection of hits by second generation Irish band ‘The Smiths’ on the anniversary of their break up twenty years ago. Plus hits from ‘Morrisey’, ‘Oasis’, ‘Badly Drawn Boy’ and other Manchester bands with Irish roots.

The event is part of the Manchester Irish Festival: More information on the Going Irish website

Hey there. This is very confusing, in the Irish Festival brochure the Smiths Night was listed as happening at M19. When we went along it was very un-Smithsy! When we asked at the bar they told us they'd never heard of it, then later they said 'Oh yeah it IS on tonight but the DJ is also the soundman for the band upstairs so he can't play any records down here ...' Eh?
